Draxler, Donald JohnRetired Chemung County Deputy Sheriff Age 68 formerly a resident of Pine City, NY and currently of Hobe Sound, FL. Passed away very unexpectedly Monday, August 20, 2001 in Hobe Sound, FL. He was born March 7, 1933 in Hawley, PA. He was predeceased by his loving parents, John Charles Draxler in 1979 and Esther (VanWagner) Draxler in 1988; beloved brother Carl Draxler in 1982. Donald is survived by his companion and best friend, Monya Jamison of Hobe Sound, FL; children, Roxanne Draxler of Kapolei, Hawaii; Terry and Mel Skerpon of Davidson, NC; David and Alyce Draxler of Mooresville, NC; Scott Draxler of North Pole, Alaska; Donald Draxler of New York City, NY; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and June Draxler of Pine City, NY; sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Seymour Shaw of Mansfield, PA; grandchildren, Nicole and Steven of Mooresville, NC; along with several nieces and nephews. Donald was a Veteran of the US Army serving his country from 1953 to 1955. He was a member of the Webb Mills United Methodist Church and a member of the Masonic Temple Ivy Lodge # 397 F & AM. He retired from the Chemung County Sheriff?s Department on March 8, 1986 after 26 years of faithful service. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Friday, August 24, 2001 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 10:00 AM in the Webb Mills United Methodist Church 1623 Pennsylvania Ave. Pine City, NY. Reverend David Hays will officiate. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Elmira, NY where the Chemung County Veteran?s Honor Squad will accord full Military Honors to Mr. Draxler.
