Dona Lea Houseknecht

Dona Lea Houseknecht 63 of Elmira, NY lost her battle with pancreatic cancer at St Joseph’s Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility on May 9, 2018.The daughter of the late Donald and Stella (Florence) Houseknecht, Elmira, NY. Survived by brothers: Alan Houseknecht of Florida and Larry Houseknecht of South Carolina, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.She adored her friends, family and pets. She unselfishly dedicated many years to the care and well being of others.She cared for her parents, Florence who suffered from Alzheimer's and then Donald until his death.She also worked as a nurses aid for the Arnot Ogden hospital in excess of 30 years, many of those years in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit).She was especially fond of her tiny charges, which she thought of as her babies. Private services for the family will be by invitation only.In lieu of flowers, please donate to any charity advancing the cure for cancer or aide for cancer patients.
