ELMIRA – Dominic V. Fanelli, 85, of Elmira, passed away on Wednesday January 19, 2022.Born on May 18, 1936 in Manhattan, NY, he was the son of the late John and Margaret (Russo) Fanelli. At the age of 16, he moved to Elmira and began his first job for the Elmira Water board.By the age of 19, he joined the US Air Force.After being honorably discharged, he returned to Elmira and worked several jobs around the area.In 1973, he purchased the Lamplighter Cocktail Lounge and proudly owned and operated the business for 26 years. When Dominic was not working to provide for his family, he was enjoyed collecting and restoring antiques.He was an avid poker player and he especially loved to cook.More than anything, he loved his family and the time that he shared with them. Survivors include his children, Mark (Kim) Fanelli of FL, Nicole (Shawn) Kerbein of Horseheads, Christina Fanelli (Scott Scongdon) of Elmira; his grandchildren, Anthony Fanelli, Alivia Fanelli (Tom Blaser), Christopher Fanelli, Alec Kerbein (Mackenzie Johnson), Miranda Green (Ryan Keilman), William (Tripper) Green; and Dominic’s sister, Mary Fanelli of New York, NY. Friends may call from 4-6 pm on Tuesday, January 25, 2021 at Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue in Elmira.Burial in Fitzsimmons Cemetery will be private.
