Diana L. Oliver

Diana Lynn (Clearwater) Oliver, 68, of Thurston, NY, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, January 10, 2025 after battling ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) for more than four years.  She was born December 12, 1956 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of Carol Martis.  She married David Oliver on June 17, 2017 in Thurston, NY.

Diana was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was also an advocate for children born with special needs, especially those born with Down syndrome, including her own daughter Kari.  Diana loved to cook, bake, camp, kayak, travel, and spend time with her grandchildren.  She was a member of Bentley Creek Wesleyan Church in Gillett, PA for over 40 years, and served as hospitality director there for many of those years.  She volunteered for over 40 years at Chambers Wesleyan Camp in Chambers, NY in many roles, most recently as a member of the Ladies Retreat Committee and Dean of Women for Discipleship Camp. Diana and her husband David have spent their winters in Florida or South Texas since 2019.

Diana is survived by: her husband of seven years, David Oliver; her daughters - Cheryl Lambert of Elmira, NY, Kari Morse of Thurston, NY and Laura Sullivan of Addison, NY; her stepson Benjamin Oliver of Glens Falls, NY; her stepdaughter Sarah (Oliver) DeForest of Milan, PA; four grandsons; two granddaughters; her sister Paula Markessinis of Stillwater, NY; her brother Daniel Clearwater of Millersburg, PA; and her mother-in-law Josephine Hunt.

The family would like to thank Diana’s private nurse for her excellent care of Diana over the past few months.

Family and friends are invited to Bentley Creek Wesleyan Church, 13255 Berwick Turnpike, Gillett, PA 16925 for calling hours on Friday, January 17, 2025 from 6:00-8:00 PM. Calling hours will resume at the church on Saturday, January 18 beginning at 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM, when her memorial service will begin, with the Rev. Rob Wuethrich officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her honor to Chambers Camp and Retreat Center, 114 Campground Road, Beaver Dams, NY 14812, and designated for the new tabernacle.
