Age 67, formerly of Rolling Acres Road Pine City, NY passed away peacefully on Friday, September 21, 2018 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. He was born October 2, 1950 in Dansville, NY the son of the late Elmer L. and Jean (Wemple) Storch Sr. His wife, Evelyn C. Storch and sister, Deborah Storch-Walker preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, Jim (Mary) Storch; daughter, Joy Storch; 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; siblings, Sandra Parker (Mike Gee), Elmer “Butch” (Marie) Storch Jr.; Barb Molyneaux; along with several nieces and nephews; lifelong friend John Gleckner. In 1967, Daniel became an Eagle Scout. For the last few years, Daniel was a meat cutter at Shepherd’s Food Market. From September 12, 1980 to September 21, 2018 Dan was a member of the Webbs Mills Volunteer Fire Department where he was a firefighter then chief. He was their president, was on the Board of Directors, the Board of Fire Commissioners, and many other committees. He was a CPR, CFR and EMT instructor and took many state fire classes. He was also a County Fire Investigator and Deputy Fire Coordinator. Dan received his Associates Degree in fire fighting science and also received many prestigious awards throughout his 38 years of service. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport on Monday, September 24, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Funeral services honoring his life will follow the visitation at 6 pm. Reverend Chip Possee will officiate. Interment will take place in Fitzsimmons Cemetery on Tuesday at 11 am. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Webbs Mills Volunteer Fire Department, 18 Firehouse Lane Pine City, NY 14871.
