Shannon, Daniel K. “Dan”, age 52, lifelong resident of the Pine City community passed away at the Robert Packer Hospital late Monday night. He was born in Elmira, NY December 2nd, 1964. Dan married the love in his life 26 years ago, on August 3rd, 1991, Tina Markowski Shannon of Pine City; He was proud to be blessed with two loving children, his son, Tyler Shannon and daughter, Rebecca Shannon, both at home; Dan is also survived by his parents, Albert and June Shannon of Elmira, NY; sister, Kim (Roger) Rehm of Bethlehem, PA ; brother, Rob (Sallie) Shannon of Pine City, NY; sister, Pam (Bill) Hicks of Elmira; Father and Mother-in-law, Charles and Beverly Markowski of Elmira; sisters-in-law, Tammy (Martin) Odstrchel of Norwood, MA and Heather Markowski of Elmira; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Dan loved his job as a rural mail carrier for the Pine City community for many years. He absolutely enjoyed each and every person he served. They were his extended family. No matter how heavy the work load, Dan always made time to visit with as many people as he could. He rarely missed a day of work, and he fought for every extra day the Lord granted him.It was Dan’s request that a formal viewing is not necessary, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church, Southside on Saturday, September 2nd, 2017 at 11:00 AM. The Reverend Richard Farrell will officiate. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in the St. Peter and Paul’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Dan requested that all donations be made to the Josh Palmer Fund, PO Box 3225, Elmira, NY 14905.
