Daniel C. Hakes

Daniel C. Hakes Age 63, of Pine City, NY, passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Daniel was born on January 20, 1958 in Corning, NY. Daniel was an Eagle Boy Scout and he received a medal for saving, Yogi Metha. He was a track star at Southside High School, havingplaced second at the New York State Track and Field Meet in 1977. Daniel was also a member of the Southside High School baseball team. Daniel was an avid fisherman, a fan of the Oaland A's, Washington Redskins, and New York Rangers. He enjoyed spending time and playing board games, hockey, football, and baseball with his brothers. Daniel is survived byhis father, Bernard Hakes, Sr.; brothers, Bernard (Dorothy) Hakes, Jr., Michael Hakes, Keith Hakes, Kevin (Karla) Hakes, and Lindsay (Danelle)Hakes; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Daniel was predeceased by his mother, Phyllis (Smith) Hakes, one niece and two nephews. Friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Penna. Ave., Elmira, NY, on Friday, April 30, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with funeral services there at 6:00 p.m. Rev. Harold Burrell officiating. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family in Elmwood Cemetery, Caton, NY. Those wishing may make contributions in Daniel's name to Easter Seals.
