Age 91, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2002 at the Heritage Nursing Home in Athens, PA.Daniel was born on March 9, 1910 to Adelbert and Bessie Linsey Corey in Centerville, NY.He later married Opal Mildred Repair on December 27, 1928.He is survived by: 2 children; Beverly (Donald) Williams of Dryden, NY and Daniel (Marguerite) Corey of Elmira, NY, 3 grandchildren; Timothy Corey of NY Mills, NY, Richard (Roxanne) Corey of Elmira, NY and Tammy (David) Hawkins of Sacrament, CA, 12 great-grandchildren, brother; Thomas A. Corey of Painted Post, NY and several nieces and nephews.Daniel was predeceased by: wife of 73 years, Opal on December 24, 2001, 2 brothers; Lansing and William Corey, 2 sisters; Marion Faye and Lucile Timmins, grandson; Michael Bowan, infant son; Dwayne R. Corey and infant great-granddaughter Angelica Corey.Mr. Corey retired from Remington Rand as a tool die maker.He worked for Upstate Tool Co. for many years.He also taught machine shop at night school for SHS, EFA, and BOCES.He was a member of the Elmira Moose, Elmira Eagles and Horseheads Elks.Daniel was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed bowling.He also had many friends both local and in Canada.He will be sorely missed. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY 14904 on Thursday, February 28, 2002 from 2-4pm and 6-7pm with funeral services immediately following at 7pm.The Rev. David Hayes will officiate.
