Corey A.J. Stevens

Corey Allen-Joseph Stevens, a native of Merritt Island, FL and resident of Elmira, NY, passed away tragically and unexpectedly on February 28, 2025. He was a student at BOCES and a talented athlete. He loved his time playing with the Upstate Legends, 607 Panthers, and the Southern Tier Kraken, now the Southern Tier Cobras, and was looking forward to a larger role in coaching younger players. But above all, Corey was a thoughtful and sweet natured young man who loved his family with all his heart, especially his younger brothers. He was only sixteen years old, but leaves behind a legacy of kindness and caring in all who had the joy of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his aunt Jessika Stevens, and his great-grandmother Kathy Williamson.

He is survived by: his parents - Enmanuel Figueroa and Marina Stevens; his grandfather David Stevens; his grandmothers – Dawn Stevens, Kathy "Mema" Freist, and Carmen Gonzalez; his great-grandmother Lillian Gonzalez; his siblings- Nickoli Stevens, Jah’vonte Stevens, Enmanuel Figueroa, Jr., and a new baby sibling on the way, that he thought would be a sister; his uncles – Andre ”AJ” Campos and Douglas Delles along with his tios DeNyco Gonzalez, Nene Figueroa, Tony Figueroa, Angel Gonzales, Gabe Echevarria, Jose Gonzalez, Jack Frost, and Jan Figueroa; his great-uncles Chad Williamson (Jo Ann), Pepo and wife Dixie and her sister Char Char, and Raymond Gonzalez;  his aunts – Sherry Bixby, Angela Delles, Kelly Price, Natasha Barber, and Emily Williamson as well as his titis – Carmen "Cuqui" Figueroa, Jasmine Gonzalez, Thalia Echevarria, Nana Echevarria, Nyca, and Chanyca ; his cousins – Marcus Delles, Clair Delles, Myra McNeal, Amerikiss Williamson, William, Ezikel, Marianna, Sam Sam, JJ Madi, Baby Joseph, Monkey, Chenzo, Ziella, Baby D, and Pooter; and his girlfriend and first love Juliana Robin Stevens.

Friends and family are invited to Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY for a visitation on Friday, March 21 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM, when his memorial service will begin.

The family would like to thank his coaches – Terrance Greene, Loren Council, Daryl Green, Jody Buckley, David Apgar, and Matt Rosekrans – for their support and guidance through the years which helped Corey grow into the special young man that he was.

His first love Juliana says, “Corey always showed me true, genuine love, and his smile always brightened up my day. He was the sweetest person I’ve ever known.”

His memory will be joyfully cherished forever.
