Corey D. Sprague

Corey D. Sprague, 53, passed away of natural causes on January 6, 2025 at his home in Ithaca, NY. Corey suffered from COPD and emphysema, along with other health conditions that contributed to his passing.

Born in Elmira, NY to the late Dolores Cleveland and Duane Sprague, Corey attended Southside High School. He went on to study creative writing at Corning Community College. He was a journeyman carpenter and millwright at Carpenter’s Union Local 532. Corey also had a passion for music and art.

In addition to his parents, Corey was preceded in death by his brothers Gary Cleveland and Gregg Sprague.

He is survived by: his children – Jesse Sprague and Ciera Sprague; his grandchildren – Kairi Sprague, Scarlett Viele, and Clarence Viele; his siblings – Barbara Cleveland, Daniel Cleveland, Nanette Burris, Diane Garcia, and Bruce Sprague; along with many nieces and nephews.

In honor of Corey, a private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY, 14904.
