CHARLIE EDWIN HARBOL
Charlie E. Harbol, 84, passed away on April 2, 2023 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. He
was born November 30, 1938 in Elmira, NY, the son of John and Clara (Ross) Harbol.
As a young man Charlie was an avid outdoorsman hunting and fishing throughout Hendy Hollow.
Charlie graduated from Edison High School and then went on to proudly serve in the United States Navy.
Upon returning to the Elmira area, he began a 40 year career at Hardinge Brothers where he became a
master machinist. For years he volunteered with Junior Achievement serving as a mentor to numerous
high school students. After retirement Charlie taught himself how to play guitar, mandolin and banjo.
He used his impressive musical talents as a member of the Elmirans, entertaining patients at various
nursing facilities and hospitals in the area.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was predeceased by his son, Ernest Harbol. Charlie is survived
by his loving wife of 58 years, Elsie Harbol, daughters Sandra (Timothy) Mattison and Melissa Harbol,
son Nicholas (Tracy) Harbol, daughter-in-law Abigail Harbol, twelve grandchildren Sarah, Rachel, Aaron,
Zoe, Casey, Noah, Jacob, Liam, Sam, Olivia, Lily, Lucas and one great-granddaughter, Coco. In addition,
Charlie is survived by his sister, Patricia Roucek.
