Charles G. Rogers

Charles G. Rogers Was born February 20, 1951 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Ross Rogers (1919-2000) and Angela (Lynch) Rogers (1916-2003). Charles passed away very unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 as a result of an automobile accident, at the age of 68. In 1969, Charlie graduated from Horseheads High School. In 1972, he received his A.A. in Liberal Arts from Corning Community College. In 1975, he received his B.S. in English from SUNY at Brockport. In 1982, he received his M.S. in Education from Elmira College. From April 1977 - June 1979, he was an Instructor of English and Peace Corp Volunteer in Vieux Fort Senior Secondary School, Vieux Fort, St. Lucia, West Indies, and from July 1983 - June 1984, did the same in the National University of Rwanda Butare, Rwanda, Central Africa. From February 1985 - June 1990, he was an Instructor of English at the following: Bahrain Royal Air Force Training Institute Riffah, Bahrain; Technical Institute of Naval Studies Dammam, Saudi Arabia; and Saudi Army Signal School Taif, Saudi Arabia. From September 1990 - July 1993, he was a Probation Officer with the Steuben County Probation Department in Bath, NY. He supervised offenders placed on probation through direct interview and collateral contacts. He also compiled investigation reports prior to disposition of court sentence. From November 1993 - July 1998, he was an Instructor of English at the Vinnell Corporation in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He taught various levels of ESL to Officers of the Saudi Arabia National Guard. He also contributed to the development of instruction and examination materials. From January 1999 - January 2000, he was an English Instructor at Elmira Business Institute. He taught Business English and Composition skills to students in business and technical programs. From September 2000 - June 2002, he was a Writing Lecturer at Elmira College. He taught Critical Thinking and English skills to entering students in business and technical programs. From September 2002 to June 2003, he was a Graduate Advisor at Elmira College. He provided counseling to students and appropriate courses needed to meet requirements of Masters degree programs. From September 2003 - January 2004, he was a Reading Instructor at Corning Community College. He developed program materials and taught remedial reading to entering students. From July 2004 - January 2010, he was the Senior Trainer at the Vinnell Corporation in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He administered program of ESL of Officers of the Saudi Arabian National Guard and developed instructional material and exams, maintained academic records, and evaluated instructors. Charlie was passionate about English, and passing his love of that to others. He loved riding his bicycle, and enjoyed photography. At his request, there will be no services.
