Farmer, Charles E. Retired Owner Farmer?s Model train Shop Of Pine City, NY passed away peacefully into the light of our creator on October 24, 2001. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years Evelyn V. Farmer and his brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Mary Farmer.Charles is survived by his only daughter, Doris Farmer Ferris. Two grandchildren, Jeffrey J. Elston and T.J. Ferris and one great-grandchild, Adam Hunter Elston. A brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Mary Farmer. An especially close nephew, George (Joan) Farmer, niece Marilyn F. Mosher, nephew, Ed (Lori) Farmer, many other special nieces and nephews and companion Winnie Heatherton. Charles was best known as the knowledgeable, caring and friendly owner of Farmer?s Model Train Shop in Southport. He was born April 25, 1914 in Elmira, NY to parents Charles Russell Farmer and Ethel Christiansen Farmer. He has lived in Pine City since 1917 working on the family farm raising produce, hauling coal from Morris, PA, working on the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1942, owner of Farmer?s Greenhouse and Flower Shop in the 50?s and employed at the Elmira Star Gazette for many years before retiring and opening the train shop. In his later years he worked with nephew George Farmer at Farmer?s Garden Center watering plants in the greenhouse. He touched many lives and will be missed greatly. A celebration of Charles? life will be on Sunday, October 28, 2001 from 2 to 3 PM at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira.
