Charles F. â??Chuck�? Latterell

Latterell, Charles F. formerly of Stacia Drive Age 83 a resident of the Chemung County Nursing Facility, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2001 peacefully at St. Joseph?s Hospital. He was born December 28, 1917 in Elmira, the son of the late Ernest and Mildred (Richie) Latterell. Charles married Crystal Ferris August 14, 1973, they have enjoyed 28 wonderful years of life and love together. His survivors include: loving wife, Crystal; step-son, Thomas (Marty) Hopkins of Louisville, KY; brother and sister-in-law, Ernest ?Bucky? and Eleanor Latterell of Elmira, NY; sister-in-law, Mary Latterell also of Elmira, NY; along with numerous nieces and nephews. His sister, Eleanor Dean and brother, Richard Latterell, predeceased him. ?Chuck? as he was affectionately known, retired from the VA Medical Center in Bath, NY after several faithful years of service as a mason and in the maintenance department. He was a Volunteer for the Southport Fire Department and was an avid sportsman especially enjoying hunting and fishing. In his earlier years, ?Chuck? was a pitman with McClure Motor sports, and a life-long stock car racing enthusiast. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Wednesday, November 21, 2001 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Funeral Services will be held there at the conclusion of calling hours. (8:00 PM) John P. Knapp will officiate. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Elmira, NY. A ?Candle of Memory? may be lit in ?Chuck?s? name at www.olthof.com.
