Catherine â??Katie�? Mistretta

Age 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 24, 2002 at the Bradford County Manor in Troy, PA.Katie was born in Menfi, Sicily on January 18, 1921.She is survived by: her husband of 56 years; Joseph Mistretta, loving daughter and son-in-law; Diana and Allen DeLosa of Mosherville, PA, grandchildren; Allen (Andrea) DeLosa, Michael (Annette) DeLosa, Denise DeLosa all of Mosherville, PA, Michelle (John) Alexander of Elmira, NY, great-grandchildren; Caitlin and Michael DeLosa, Madeline DeLosa, Madison Alexander, and Kris Howland, siblings; Anna (Joseph) Simone of Arizona, Antoinette (Joseph) LaMarca of Queens, NY, Lillian (Steven) Piccolo of Elmont, NY, Jennie (Vincent) Noto of Elmont, NY, Saverio (Angela) Sutera of Staten Island, NY and many beloved nieces and nephews. Katie was predeceased by: her parents; John and Rosaria Sutera, great-granddaughter; Angela DeLosa and her stepmother; Jennie Sutera.Katie moved to Brooklyn, NY at the age of 3.She was very proud of her Italian heritage and passed that love along to her family.She was a superb Italian cook and an excellent seamstress.Katie worked in the garment district in New York City in the 1940?s.She spent many days playing cards with her beloved sisters.During Katie?s life she was much like a mother to her siblings.She was always caring and thoughtful and would never let you leave her house on an empty stomach.Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY 14904 on Wednesday, March 27, 2002 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, March 28, 2002 at 11:30am.Father Rick Farrell will officiate.
