Carol Ann Mortensen

Carol Ann Mortensen, 80, of Horseheads, New York, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018. Carol was born in Farmington, New York to the late Augustus and Dusie Colf on February 12, 1938. She attended Victor High School and graduated in 1956 with Valedictorian honors.She worked at Kodak, Rochester Newspapers, and retired from the United States Postal Service. Most importantly, she was a hard-working mother who raised 5 children and was a foster parent to many others. She enjoyed playing piano, watching boxing, and spending time with her family. Carol is preceded in death by her four brothers, two sisters, and a grandson, Paul Lee. Carol is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gary; daughters, Karen Merkle and Mary (Mike) Robinson; sons, Bob (Debi), Brian (Georgia), and Bill; 10 Grandchildren and 12 Great grandchildren. The family will have a private gathering honoring her life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America at www.alzfdn.org. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Elcor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Horseheads, New York for their long term care of their mother.
