Blanche E. Canfield ? Elmira Heights Resident age 77 of Cleveland Street passed away peacefully January 30, 2002 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center with her beloved husband at her side. She was born June 20, 1924 in Elmira, NY the daughter of the late Walter and Phoebe (Youmans) Moore. Her son, Ronald A. Canfield March 11, 1998, preceded her in death. Blanche married Loren Canfield July 5, 1943 in Madison, Wisconsin. They have enjoyed 58 wonderful years of love and life together. She is also survived by, son, Jerry Martin Canfield of Prattsburgh, NY; daughter, Lorie Ann (Roger) Ellison of Parkersburg, West VA; grandchildren, Kelley (Steve) Berger, Chris Canfield, Jeff Canfield, Megan and Andrew Ellison; great grandchildren, Jade Canfield and Dominic Knoll; sisters, Irene Chadburne of Calais, ME; Nelda Rumsey of Millport, NY; along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Blanche attended the Southside Baptist Church for 26 years. She was the Sunday School Secretary for many of those years. Blanche, along with her husband and four other couples put monies together to see that the Church could re-open after it had been closed. She worked as a bus monitor in the Elmira Heights City School District working with the handicapped children for over 10 years. Blanche was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. All will dearly miss her. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Saturday, February 2, 2002 from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 PM. Funeral Services will be held there at the conclusion of the calling hours. (7 PM) The Reverend David Ivy will officiate.
