Beverly A. Smith, 93, of Millerton, PA passed away on November 5, 2024.
Beverly was born in 1931 to the late Gerald and Janet (Deming) Smith and grew up in Millerton, PA. After graduating, she married her beloved husband Dick. She spent her early days managing their home where she was a talented homemaker, known for her delicious rice pudding. She took great joy in raising their five children.
She was industrious and hard-working, and later became a notary public, and worked closely with Dick in business endeavors. In 1972, they opened Smith's Harley Davidson in Daggett, PA which they enjoyed operating for 28 years. She was a member of the Big Elm Volunteer Fire Department since 1949, known as "Daggett Orange". She supported Dick's work with the Wells-Jackson Lions Club and both contributed greatly to Daggett UMC. They were both avid deer hunters and enjoyed touring with antique car clubs like the Twin Tier Vintage Car Club and the Sullivan Trail A's. And of course, their precious grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren filled their final years with much joy and happiness.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband of 70 years Richard N. "Dick" Smith; her great-granddaughter Laynee Arlene; her sister Frances Tyler; and her brother Gerald Smith, Jr.
Beverly is survived by: her children - Sharon (Ronald) Knapp, Sandra "Sandy" Smith, Randall (Eileen) Smith, Ricanne (Harold) Wheeler, and Judy (Jeff) Woodruff; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law - Irene Winterstein, Marleea Smith, and Pauline Martin; and brother-in-law Robert C. (Linda) Smith.
Beverly will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Alder Run Cemetery in a private family service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY 14904.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of "Daggett Orange" to the Big Elm Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 249, Millerton, PA 16936.
