Beverly Louise Dickerson, a native of Troy, PA and long-time resident of Elmira, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, September 6, 2024. She was 82.
Beverly spent much of her adult life caring for the family she and Jerry, the love of her life, had built together, including running the family homestead in Ridgebury PA. Her life's work was raising her children and taking care of her family, as well as always giving a hand to raise children of friends and family members. She loved baking cakes, playing cards, camping and watching her husband race. After the children had grown, she enjoyed working outside of the home at Anne's Pancakes, where she was a beloved waitress for more than 30 years. She was a vivacious and fun-loving person who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life - chicken wings, beer, and spending time at Tioga Downs. She was the life of the party and loved when everyone had a good time. Her good nature and zest for life will be missed by all who knew her. She was a selfless person and always there for everyone.
In addition to her parents John and Helen (Cole) Perry, Beverly was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Jerome F. Dickerson; her granddaughter Michelle Dickerson; four sisters; and two brothers.
She is survived by: her children - Douglas Dickerson and wife Dorene, Laura Detrick and husband Lawrence, Lisa Rosekrans and husband Rick, Dawn Dickerson-Braund and husband Danny, and Helen Borden and husband Jeff; her grandchildren - Rachel, Ryan, Shane, Steffan, Chelsie, Bailey, Ricky, Logan, Devaney, Dallas, Dalainey, John, Jace; her 25 great-grandchildren; her sisters - Dottie Shellenberger and Nancy Rosekrans; sister-in-law Betty Austin, many nieces and nephews; special family friends Nancy Spaulding and Paula VanDuzer; and her precious cat Murphy.
Friends and family are invited to a brief graveside service on Friday, September 13, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Woodlawn National Cemetery, 1825 Davis Street in Elmira NY where she will be interred along with her beloved husband.
