Betty W. June

Age 78 of 207 3rd Street Horseheads, NY, formerly of the River Road, Route 352, Elmira, passed away at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center, on Wednesday, December 11, 2002. She is survived by her loving children; son and daughter-in-law; Robert and Lynn June of Elmira; daughter and son-in-law, with whom she resided, Linda and David Rothchild of Horseheads, NY; 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Betty is predeceased by her husband and loving friend, Ernie, who passed away before her on July 22, 1997. Betty was a devoted homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the backbone of her late husband?s business, the Ernie June Drive Shaft Repair Shop, located on Route 352, Elmira for over 45 years. Together they worked hand in hand raising their family. Through hard work and treating people right, they gained a reputation that to this day is very respected. They helped many people, through building racecars, model airplanes, and saw mills, and still found time to race super modified racecars for over 50 years; something they both enjoyed. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY on Monday, December 16, 2002 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 7:00 PM. Reverend Howard L. Hunt will officiate. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Betty loved animals and requested that any memorials be made to the Chemung County SPCA, 2435 Route 352, Elmira, NY 14901 or to the First United Church of Christ, 160 Madison Avenue, Elmira, NY 14901.
