Betty Jean Belloma

Betty J. (Matthews) Belloma, 87, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, January 4, 2024. Betty was born in Elmira, NY on July 25, 1936, to Robert and Novella Gladys Matthews.

Betty will be lovingly remembered by her children Terry Clark, Darlene (Robert) Fairbanks, Timothy (Bridget) Belloma, and Cathy (Thomas) Dunbar. She is also survived by grandchildren David (Sarah) Fannin II, T.J. Belloma, Trishe Belloma, Bobbi Jo Fairbanks, Patrick (Jamie) Dunbar, Katie Fairbanks, Rita (Jon) King, Michael (Cady) Dunbar, Kevin Dunbar and their families. In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her husband, Frank R. Belloma, children Jerry Clark and Anthony Belloma, brothers Robert, Leo, Kenneth, Francis, Carl, Lewis, and sister Phyllis Oliphant.

Throughout her life, Betty was employed by various companies including Remington Rand, Eastern Plastics, and Upstate Molding. After retiring, she found enjoyment working in the Diven Elementary School cafeteria. Betty was also affiliated with the Southport Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary for many years.

The family would like to thank the nurses, aides and staff of the Chemung County Nursing Facility 5th Floor Unit for all their care, kindness, and compassion they provided to Betty.

A private graveside service will be held in St. Peter and Paul’s Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
