Barbara L. Oakes
Age 77, of Elmira, NY, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, peacefully at home.
Barbara was born on July 16, 1945 in Eagle Pass, TX.
She was a 1963 Southside High School graduate and a payroll clerk at the Elmira Correctional Facility, having retired in 2007. She enjoyed playing cards and casino slots and was always giving to her family.
Her family was always first. She loved her family and was very proud of her grandsons. Her profound love and kindness will leave a lasting light on this world. Barbara also enjoyed giving to charities, such as St. Jude and Tanners P.A.W.S.
Barbara is survived by her son, Anthony (Lisa) Cicconi of Elmira, NY; grandsons, Christian, Steven, and Logan Cicconi of Elmira, NY; brother, Melvin (Connie) Oakes of Elmira, NY; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father, Milton Oakes, Sr. in 1996; mother, Artie L. (Butler) Oakes in 2005; and brother, Milton Oakes, Jr. in 2020.
A luncheon will be held at the New Beginnings United Methodist Church at a time to be determined.
The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude, Hospice , or a local animal shelter in Barbara's memory.
