Arthur Leroy Ostrander Age 86, of Elmira, NY passed away Monday, April 8, 2002, at Arnot Ogden Medical Center.Arthur was bornOctober 5, 1915 in Millport, NY.He is survived by: his wife of 64 years; Irene Hetherington Ostrander, daughter; Diane Plouse of Milan, PA and Carolyn (Les) Hartshornof Pine, CO, grandchildren M?Liss (Edward) Gillen, of Concord, Ca; Kim (Steve) Nicholson of Kissimmee, Fl; Hether Hartshorn of Germantown, MD; Sharlene Watkins of Athens, Pa; Teri Hoskins of Nesquehonie, Pa; Sean Hartshorn of Denver, CO; great grandchildren Eric Gillen; Peter Gillen; Alexander and Nicholas Gillen of Concord, CA; Stephanie Somers of Kissimmee Fl; Jeremy and Kristi Nicholson of Kissimmee, Fl; Kaylee, Morgan Watkins of Athens, Pa; Jonathan, Jessica Harrison of Wilkes Barre, PA; and 3 great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Sister-in-law Virginia Makovitch and Brothers in law: Ralph Hetherington, and Edward Sheive. He was predeceased by his parents, Anson and Elsie (Hodge) Ostrander; brothers, Peter, Tom, Lewis and Paul Ostrander. Arthur was a World War II Navy Veteran, He retired after 33years from the City of Elmira as maintenance supervisor.Life member of the D.A.V. Jack Swan Post # 13, American Legion Harry Bentley Post # 443, Past master 1970-1971 of the Old Oak Masonic Lodge # 364 F&AM, Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Master Mason of Corning, NY, Cashmere Grotto, past Master Assoc.of Chemung, Schuyler, and Tioga , Memberof the Easter Star Horseheads Chapter # 423, because of his lifetime dedication in the Masonic Lodge Arthur was the recipient of the 1993 Masonic Dedicated Service Award. He was also a member of the Chemung Valley Old Timers, Circus Model Builders. Arthur was and avid model railroader who was devoted to his membership in the Flat Wheel Division of Model Railroaders. The life of Arthur Leroy Ostrander will be celebrated at 2:00 Thursday, April 11th, 2002 at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY.Arthur?s Masonic brethren will officiate.
