Silata, Annie M. Devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother Age 79, of RD # 4 Congress Hill Road Franklin, PA. Passed away peacefully in her sleep at her son?s home in Elmira, NY Tuesday, February 12, 2002 at 1:50 AM. Born February 14, 1922 in Aliquippa, PA, she was the daughter of the late Annie (Mazallavic) and Andrew Myci of Croatia/Austria ? Yugoslavia. Mrs. Silata worked as a waitress. The Westinghouse Electric Company also employed her during WW II. Both she and her husband owned and operated the Golden Dawn Grocery Store on Liberty Street for 17 years in Franklin, PA. She enjoyed embroidery, baking, cooking and gardening. She was also a member of St. Patrick?s Church in Franklin, PA. Annie loved and very much enjoyed her family. Surviving is her only son and daughter-in-law, Michael F. and Barbara J. Silata of Elmira, NY; grandchildren, Mary Silata, Jennifer Silata, Michael (Katie) Silata and Joseph Silata; great grandchildren, Ryan Michael and Kyler Matthew Silata; very dear friends Adelaide Blackhurst and family of Franklin, PA. Her beloved husband, Frank J. Silata whom she married May 1, 1947, preceded Mrs. Salata in death. Mr. and Mrs. Silata shared 52 beautiful years together before his death in March 19, 1999. In addition to her husband, her brother, John Mici and sister, Mildred Puhala, preceded Mrs. Silata in death. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY. Visitation will be private. Private Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Sunset Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery Cranberry, PA. Memorial Donations in the name of Annie M. Silata may be directed to the American Cancer Society P. O. Box # 7 East Syracuse, NY 13057. Special Thank You to Dr. Friedenberg, nurse practitioner, Sue Dimico, oncology staff and medical residents at the Robert Packer Hospital, and the Southern Tier Hospice staff for their kindness and support.
