Alice V. (Jones) Holmes

Alice V. (Jones) Holmes, Age 100, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2024 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Alice was born March 2, 1924 in Fassett, PA daughter of the late John & Mary (Lyons) Jones. She was retired from nursing after working in several Adult Care Homes in Elmira. She was active in the local Habitat  for Humanity Group and was always proud of meeting Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter the Ambassadors for the Habitat for Humanity Organization and being a nurses aide for many years.

Survivors include her sons, Richard (Anne) Holmes of Pine City, NY, Donald (Virginia) Holmes of Millerton, PA her daughter Judy Tolbert of Farmington, NY, 3 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Following Alice’s wishes there will be no service and she will be laid to rest in the columbarium in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, NY. Arrangements are under the direction of the Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania, Avenue, Elmira, NY 14901.
