Alan L. Carpenter, a native of Brooklyn, New York and long-time resident of Elmira, New York passed away on March 26, 2024. He was 93 years old.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ward W. and Elva (Palmer) Carpenter; his sister-in-law Brenda Carpenter; and his beloved wife Betty (Lee) Carpenter.
He is survived by: his children – Debbie Sheriff, Richard Carpenter, Alan “Skip” Carpenter, and Nanette Ames; his grandchildren – David Jerzak, Jamie Jerzak, Rachel Carpenter, Shawn Carpenter, Shelby Ames, Bethany (Eric) Godshall, and Jeffry Ames; his great-grandchildren – Cassidy Jerzak, Joshua Jerzak, Mercedes Jerzak, Jayden Jerzak, Chase Jerzak, Cooper Carpenter, Oliver Carpenter, Noah Jeronimo, Alexis Ames, Ryan Ames, and Olivia Ames; his brother William Carpenter; his niece Pamela Carpenter; and his nephew Perry Carpenter. He is also survived by his dear friends – Pastor Arthur “Skip” Reed, Doug Fredo, and Ruben Davila, as well as friends from the United Baptist Church.
The family would also like to thank Pamela Kuhn for the loving care and friendship she offered Alan.
Friends and family are invited to gather for a visitation from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM on Thursday, April 4, 2024 to be followed by a memorial service at 6:30 PM at Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue in Elmira. He will be laid to rest beside his wife the following day, Friday, April 5, 2024 at 11:30 AM at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 563 Jerusalem Hill Road, in Elmira, where military honors will be rendered.
